Sensitization Session on Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaign Underway

The Health Department has today launched a sensitization session in preparation for the upcoming Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaign, which is scheduled to take place from 10th to 16th April 2024. This nationwide health initiative targets individuals between the ages of 1 and 60 years, aiming to protect communities from the potentially deadly mosquito-borne disease.

The session brought together key district leaders and stakeholders, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), LCV Chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), District Health Officer (DHO), and several LCIII Chairpersons. Their presence and active participation underscore the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration in ensuring the success of the campaign.

During the meeting, health officials emphasized the importance of vaccination as a proven tool to prevent the spread of Yellow Fever. They also highlighted the need for continued community awareness and mobilization to achieve high vaccine coverage during the scheduled period.

This campaign comes at a critical time as Uganda intensifies efforts to strengthen public health resilience and prevent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. The Health Department urges all eligible individuals to participate in the upcoming campaign and encourages communities to support the dissemination of accurate information.
