About Us

Welcome to Namisindwa District, one of Uganda’s administrative districts located in the Eastern Region. Established on 1 July 2017, Namisindwa District was carved out of Manafwa District, previously known as “East Bubulo County.” The district was created to improve service delivery, promote local development, and create job opportunities, especially for the youth.

Location and Geography

Namisindwa District is strategically positioned, sharing borders with:

  • North: Bududa District
  • East and South: Kenya
  • Southwest: Tororo District
  • West: Manafwa District

The district’s administrative headquarters are located in Bupoto, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Mbale, the largest city in the sub-region. The district features a hilly terrain, making it prone to soil erosion, especially during the rainy season. Its road network includes the important Bumbobi–Bubulo–Lwakhakha Road, which traverses the district from northwest to southeast, ensuring connectivity and economic activity.
